While Fellows are appointed by election, membership is open to anybody with a keen interest in literature.

Membership benefits
Members are entitled to attend our monthly events free of charge. Due to the increasing popularity of events, members' guests are asked to contribute £5. Seating is limited, so the only way to guarantee a place is to join the Society. After meetings members are able to meet speakers informally over a glass of wine.

The RSL regularly offers collaborative events with other cultural organisations, such as the French Institute, the LSE, the Royal Society, Warwick University and a number of literary festivals.

Members are also invited to the hugely enjoyable summer party and prize-giving.

Members of the RSL are entitled to 10% off books, and one-third discount on tickets to talks, at the London Review Bookshop in Bloomsbury.

If new Members of the RSL wish join the Society of Authors, they will be offered 15 months’ membership for the price of 12.
