
Stephen Romer is a poet, translator and literary critic. He has lived in France since 1981, where he teaches at the University of Tours. In 2002 he edited the Faber anthology 20th-century French Poems. Among his own several volumes of poetry, Yellow Studio (2008) was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize. Reviewing it for The Guardian, Adam Thorpe described him as ‘one of our finest poets of thwarted or impossible love’.
