Miranda Carter – Year of election 2011

Miranda Carter's first book, Anthony Blunt: his lives (2001), a biography of the art historian and spy, was written, said The Guardian, with a ‘steely dispassion’ worthy of its subject; it won the Orwell Prize and the RSL Heinemann Award, and was chosen by the New York Times Book Review as one of the seven best books of 2002. Her latest book is The Three Emperors: three cousins, three empires and the road to World War One (2009).
